Russ Werning Honored for Service During the Girls’ Basketball Game
On January 5, 2021, during the varsity girls’ basketball game, Russ Werning was recognized for spending his entire adult life supporting kindergarten through 12 grade Prairie Students.
In 1960, Russ was hired at College Community School District as an Accounting, Office Education and Typing Teacher. In 1996, Russ retired and started his second career at Prairie transporting students and athletes. He has served as a high school teacher, coach, bus driver, official, football statistician, basketball table worker and numerous other duties, all throughout countless activities and events.
We are fortunate to have his continued support and wanted to celebrate Russ’s Diamond Anniversary of service tonight. In total, Russ has invested over 60 year to benefit Prairie.
Activities Director Rocky Bennett presented Russ with a commemorative basketball recognizing his years of service.
Thank you Russ for your dedication, commitment and continued service to our students, families, patrons, and supporters of Prairie!
