National Letter of Intent Signing Day

Today marks a momentous occasion, as a record 18 Prairie student athletes signed their National Letter of Intent (NLI) continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level before school this morning.  Four sports were represented; football, track & field, baseball, and soccer.  Athletic Director and Associate Principle Rocky Bennett started off the morning by speaking on behalf of the school staff and congratulating the young men and women. It was then opened up to coaches who had some words to say about their student athletes. Friends, families, coaches, and staff were able to attend the event this morning. The student-athletes were able to speak and show gratitude towards individuals in their lives who have helped them throughout their journey. These 18 individuals have decided to continue their education at reputable institutions including Wartburg College, Mount Mercy, Upper Iowa, Cornell College, Iowa Western, Iowa Central, the University of Dubuque, and the University of Iowa. Each of these athletes have accumulated post season awards over their time at Prairie such as All-Conference, All-State, All-Metro awards as well as major contributions to the state qualifying teams.  Listed below are the athletes who signed, which sport they will be competing in, as well as the college they will be attending next fall. Teagan Merta, a senior bowler will be signing his NLI Friday, February 4 on senior night at Lancer Lanes.
