Prairie High School’s Coilee Hynek Elected State Secretary for Iowa’s Business Professionals of America
Not since 2019 has Prairie had a chapter member on the election ballot for a Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Officer. During the State Leadership Conference in Des Moines this past weekend, Prairie junior, Coilee Hynek was among the slate of candidates vying for a seat on the Executive Board. Hynek completed a nomination application, a State Officer exam, delivered her campaign speech in front of 350+ Iowa’s delegates and caucused during question and answer sessions with BPA members from throughout the state.
Each chapter was allocated voting delegates who then cast votes on behalf of their respective chapters. Prairie Senior Lauren Whinery served as Hynek’s Campaign Manager. Prairie, with the largest state chapter of 60+ members, brought 42 competitors and placed in multiple events. The National Convention in May will find a strong delegation traveling to Dallas where 5,000+ students from around the country will be in attendance. Advisors Kim Hynek, Mary Gudenkauf and Matt Sima coach students in various events in preparation for Prairie attendees to earn a spot on the National Stage.
