The application for a 2022-2023 Student Parking Permit will open August 1 @ 8:00 am

A NEW parking permit is required each year for all PHS students that drive to school.  The application for a 2022-2023 parking permit will be open on Monday, August 1 @ 8:00 am.

The regulations listed below are issued to promote the safety and well-being of the CCSD community.  Failure to comply with the regulations and conditions may mandate revocation of the driving privilege, a fine or a towed vehicle:

1. ALL vehicles parked in the school parking lot must display an official PHS parking tag in the assigned parking areas.

2. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will park in LOTS A, B, C or E – Spaces are first come, first serve. (LOT F is available for overflow parking)

3. Cars must be parked in designated parking spaces that are clearly marked. Students are to park in YELLOW spaces in LOTS A, B, C, E or F. “No Parking,” faculty, (RED SPACES) handicapped, and visitor areas must be avoided at all times. No parking is permitted in the District Office parking area or the loading dock area.

4. Parking is not allowed in undesignated areas such as: Loading/Unloading Zones, grassy areas, on frontage roads, walkways, curbs – CCSD barriers (concrete blocks, construction cones, or temporary signage) are not to be moved or removed for any reason.
5. Cars parked on the Prairie campus illegally or without a permit will receive a warning and then be subject to a fine of $25 for each offense.
6. Repeat offenders are subject to parking privileges being revoked and/or have their vehicle towed at the owner’s expense.
7. The maximum speed limit on campus roads is 25mph and 10mph in parking lots.

8. Students must drive on school property with extreme caution and consideration to those around them. Any evidence of reckless or careless driving will result in removal of driving privileges and a referral to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
9. Mopeds and motorcycles may be allowed with approval through the Principal or Designee.
10. Prairie High School is not responsible for vandalism or theft of any vehicle or personal property.

Prairie High School has limited parking. No more than two permits per family will be issued.

The parking permit fee is $10.00. Once your application is approved, this fee will be assigned to your student’s account and can be paid through the in-touch online system. Students will need to bring their ** VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE or SCHOOL PERMIT **  to receive their parking permit by Sept 2. For those wishing to pick up their permit before school starts, the Dean’s Complex (former attendance office) will also be open Aug 8 from 11:00 – 3:00 and Aug 11 from 8:00 – 11:00 to issue parking permits.

**STUDENTS THAT DO NOT HAVE A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE OR SCHOOL PERMIT WILL BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST UNTIL A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE OR SCHOOL PERMIT IS OBTAINED.**

All parking lots at PHS are clearly labeled on light posts. Location of individual lots are as follows:

  • Lot A: East of the PHS Main Entrance
  • Lot B: South of Lot A and near the John Wall Stadium entrance
  • Lot C: North of the CCSD bus loading and unloading zone
  • Lot E: Located south of PHS between PHS and the tennis courts (Walkway around the CCSD District Office to the PHS Main Entrance located on the east side of PHS)
  • Lot F: South of Creek Intermediate near the baseball diamonds (Walkway around Creek Intermediate to the PHS Main Entrance located on the east side of PHS)
